Health system update - Monday 14 May

  • 14 May 2018

The local health system across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire stood down from its ‘major incident’ status related to Thursday’s fire at the haematology and oncology centre today (Monday, May 12) but services continue to be busy.

Our thanks are due to the extraordinary measures taken by the staff at UH Bristol who safely evacuated patients from the centre and to health and social care partners who worked tirelessly to ensure patient care continued to be delivered despite the disruption.

NHS organisations and services across the area are continuing to work well together to ensure there is capacity to treat patients but all services remain under pressure.

Health leaders are continuing to urge patients to think carefully about the most appropriate services for their needs over the coming days.
